Strengthening the Global Climate Action
Colleagues from ACHIEVE,BioCAM4, and CAMDA, have shared feedback with the Climate High-Level Champions and Marrakech Partnership on the five-year vision for the Global Climate Action Agenda.
Key messages:
➡️ Voluntary climate action is essential, but it must be complementary to state-led efforts under the Paris Agreement.
➡️ The GCAA should be CATALYTIC, mobilizing diverse actors and scaling solutions.
➡️ It must be COLLABORATIVE, connecting climate action with biodiversity, land, and development agendas.
➡️ It should become more COMPREHENSIVE, engaging underrepresented actors, especially from the Global South.
➡️ And it must be CREDIBLE, with robust reporting and the phasing out of underperforming initiatives.
Proposals for concrete steps to:
- Align dialogues with NDC and NAP cycles
- Support inclusion of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, women- and youth-led groups
- Strengthen data and transparency through improved indicators, interoperability, and open access
- Facilitate collaboration across the Rio Conventions to advance climate–nature synergies
